Hello! Nice to meet you.
My name is Natalie Leichtman. I like to consider myself an all-purpose graphic designer. Why, you may ask, don't I choose one thing and stick to it? Well, that's just boring! But honestly, I can do at least a little bit of everything, and don't want to limit myself by focusing solely on a specific area. There is very little that you could suggest that would scare me off. And on the other hand, I embrace that there is always more to learn: a new technique to master, a new style to try. That's what makes design so exciting!
So that said, what can I do for you? Well, like I said: pretty much anything. I received my MA in Web and Multimedia Design from Touro College in New York in 2015. That's kind of a mouthful, so I'll break it down: I know how to do logos, branding, web design and graphics, print design, photo and video editing, and my personal passion, 2D animation and motion graphics/kinetic typography. That's right, I'm kind of a text nerd who likes to make my words pretty and move in funky ways. We all have our own thing, right? Ahem. Oh yeah, also, thanks to my degree, I also have a basic knowledge of mobile app development (Android and iOS), and back-end web development. No, I am not a developer; I am a designer. However, I strongly believe that my knowledge of that coding stuff will only make my designs for you stronger. My designs actually work. I won't give your developer a design that defies logic, and I have a deeper understanding of your needs and won't forget to, you know, put a pretty submit button on the bottom of your contact form. But see? Like I said, it's a pretty wide spread of skills, experience, and knowledge.
That's right, I'm not just a fresh-off-the-boat designer, either. I'm not going to claim to be something I'm not, but I've been designing for a while. I started off, as many do, with some volunteer freelance work, and then lucked out when my first job, and my first boss, allowed me to incorporate my growing graphics knowledge into an administrative assistant position. In the summer of 2016, I began working for Leadlike as a proper graphic designer. Leadlike is an advertising and marketing firm that works primarily in French, as well as Hebrew and some English. Why do I mention this? Because I successfully worked on French designs without knowing any French. And after a little while, I was even able to make designs without typos, and even correct some typos that snuck in to others, independently. So like I said, there's little that you can throw at me that will truly scare me.
I figured I'd end this off with some fun facts. If you have gotten this far, then you know that I can work with languages I don't understand, as long as I understand what you want. And that I love kinetic typography. So fun fact #1: I love languages. How they look on the page, of course, but also how they function, and so on. I also like to view myself as kind of an amateur cartoonist, using both digital illustration as well as freehand paper-and-pencil sketching. I also enjoy photography
Well, that's me in a nutshell: an all-purpose graphic designer and aspiring digital illustrator who is also a bit of a typography geek.
